Massage therapy is not just a feel-good luxury item. There are many health benefits of massage therapy, with the biggest benefit as a natural method to reduce stress, which is now the underlying cause of 80-85% of all illnesses. Stress is estimated to cost U.S. businesses $200-$300 billion a year due to stress-related productivity costs. Imagine the cost to your own family and your health. Massage techniques reverse the negative effects of stress, repair damaged muscle tissue, and remove pain and stiffness throughout your body.
I believe the body/mind connection is an amazing gift. The body is able to correct almost all things wrong with it given a bit of extra help. Many times, when receiving a massage, we think we know where the problem is, only to have a masseuse point out a place that our mind was completely unaware of. I feel it is my job is to find these imbalances, allowing the body/mind connection to focus on those problems and correct them.
I believe massage need not be painful to be effective. During deep tissue massage, I use Reiki and Theta energy, and my job is to help you with your body/mind connection and the newly found problems as well as the known problems. Together, we will work with a pain scale from one to ten, with seven being pleasure/pain intensity. Our aim is to never go above the seven. Instead, together, we will use energy and visualization to work through the process of letting go of the imbalances and knotty tissue, without the next day and second day pain that uninformed deep tissue massage may produce.
Through massage, I strive to help the body recognize where it needs to do its work instead of trying to force my will upon it.
